Subject Databases
The databases that are most relevant to Geomatics and Spatial Information Sciences are listed first. You will be required to use your DIT password to access these databases. For a limited number of databases passwords must be obtained from DIT librarians.
A listing cannot be made of the actual journals contained in each database because this changes too frequently. Use of the search tools within the databases, once you have chosen one, is the most efficient method of finding relevant research and publications.
| ULRICHSWEB | A database to search to find out which other database/publication resource provides access to a given journal/periodical title |
| Science Direct | Science direct is the world's largest electronic collection of science, technology and medicine, as well as surveying & remote sensing, full-text and bibliographic information |
| Directory of Open Access Journals | Search 2905 journals from one site. Relevance to surveying, GI & remote sensing. |
| IngentaConnect | 23,212,287 articles, chapters, reports and more. Relevance to surveying, GI & remote sensing. |
| Swetswise | Relevance to surveying, GI & remote sensing. Can be limited to full text only search. |
| Engineering Village | Covers the broad engineering areas of mechanical, civil, structural and manufacturing engineering as well as surveying & remote sensing. |
|
Knovel Library brings together content from major science and engineering publishers such as John Wiley & Sons, McGraw-Hill and Elsevier. The full database contains over 800 full text and scientific reference works, handbooks and databases. |
|
| Iconda | Includes research in the fields of building construction, construction engineering, architecture and town planning, plus surveying & remote sensing. |
| International Civil Engineering Abstracts | Database of civil engineering related publications, including surveying. |
| ISI Web of Knowledge | Multidisciplinary, including surveying, but typically only resulting in abstracts. |
| ISurv | Database of RICS publications: books, regulations, case studies, templates, legislation, market surveys, research, professional guidance, codes of practice, etc. |
| Index to Theses | A comprehensive listing of theses with abstracts accepted for higher degrees by universities in Great Britain and Ireland since 1716. |
| ECODISC & ERIC & FSTA | ECODISC, a subset of GEOBASE the Elsevier/Geo Abstracts database, covers the international literature on the ecological sciences. ERIC (Education Resources Information Center), is an information system sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education that collects, creates, and distributes the U.S. national bibliographic database and full text materials covering the literature of education. FSTA covers all areas of food science, food technology, and human nutrition, including basic food science, biotechnology, toxicology, packaging, and engineering. |
| Info4Education | Contains fulltext access to thousands of built environment documents, construction and engineering trade literature, and health and safety documentation. |
|
Oxford Reference Online brings together language and subject reference works from one of the world's biggest reference publishers into a single cross-searchable resource. |
