Sustainability Coordinator

  Andy Maguire's role is to assist in coordinating the extensive activities of DIT in the area of sustainability. This includes campus based initiatives; education programmes; projects from local to international; and liasing with governmental, not-for-profit, and commercial bodies.

In recent years he has worked with the DIT researchers whose interests lie in Energy, Environment and Mobility. Previoulsy he worked in the ICT sector and has been a lecturer in Marketing and Logistics. Andy has an MBA from KU Leuven, specialising in Operations. His DIT primary degree is in Marketing.

Sustainability Analysist & Green Campus Coordinator

   

Ghofran Alfattani collates and analyses sustainability related data from around DIT’s 38 sites, including the assessment of energy performance, waste management, and mobility/transportation usage.

She also provides support in the organising of Green Campus initiatives.

Ghofran was awarded an M.Sc. in Supply Chain Management by DIT. She also holds a Master’s degree in Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Researcher - Campus Renewables

    Over the years Ayda Esfandyari’s expertise has developed on experience gained in electricity generation, storage, and distribution. Her current research is developing campus based electrical systems utilising renewable energy generation with supporting local energy storage, culminating in providing optimal power distribution from a central source to electrical vehicles. Ayda is also involved in degree programme delivery in DIT's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Previously she has worked on renewable energy projects like PV Crops (EU funded) and on the protection and restoration of wind farms in Washington State University. She has a Masters from UCD in the area of Energy and Power, progressing from her DIT awarded primary degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Ayda has presented at conferences on Continentail Europe and the Far East.  She is currenly a committe member of the Irish Transport Researchers Network.

Researcher - Campus Sustainabilty

  Filipa Ferraz's Ph.D. is focused in the areas of Sustainable Campus Development and sustainable organizational changes. She has worked as an EU Funding Proposal Project Manager in areas relating to Sustainability/Environment and Maritime Planning. Previously she was DIT's Green Campus Coordinator, with responsibility for "kick-starting" and developing the initiative.

Beforehand she worked with Hewlett Packard, providing technical support and with Radical Coatings (Dublin) in the area of surface materials. Filipa has a Master's degree from DIT in Sustainable Development. Her primary degree is in Mechanical Engineering, awarded by Instituto Politécnico de Leiria.

Researcher - Energy & Sustainability

  Philippe Lemarchand is an Arnold Grave's Scholar, a post-doctoral researcher, concentrating on energy research projects, with a particular emphasis on their development and management. His PhD and interests on building adaptive facades led him to participate to the COST action TU1403 and the coordination of H2020 proposals on the topic.

With engineering and master degrees in lasers and plasma physics, Philippe has worked in R&D and sales for international lighting, semiconductor and optics companies in Europe and USA.
