Previous Events 

GreenSoc

The GreenSoc was formed in 2014 and is run in association with The DIT Green Campus Committee and the DIT Societies office. This society focuses on hosting events and student engagement. GreenSoc members are welcome to also sit on the committee if they wish to do so. Events held so far have included;

Cinema night / Swift talk in association with Birdwatch Ireland / Trip to Bull Island / Halloween party / Societies office Xmas Drive including Bake Sale.Picture of the earth inside the recycle symbol

Cloughjordan Trip - February 6th - 7th 2015.

The DIT GreenSoc, in association with the DIT Green Campus Committee and DIT Clubs&Socs hosted a short trip - from Friday 6th to Saturday 7th of February - to the town of Cloughjordan Co. Tipperary, home to the EcoVillage and several other community run projects.

 

 Photography Competition - November 2014

Overall Winner of the GreenSoc Photography Competition 2014 in the theme of Construction

Run by the DIT GreenSoc in association with The DIT Green Campus Committee and the DIT Societies office.

An institute wide competition for all students regardless of their area of study. Entries were to be themed on Sustainability and The Environment in, and around, the Grangegorman Urban Quarter. The overall winner was a Bolton St. student - James Lowry, with an entry detailing the ongoing construction taking place in the Grangegorman Campus.

 

 Green Week - April 2014

The DIT Green Campus Committee hosted a Green Week during April 2014. A schedule will be set up to encourage people in DIT to make a real difference and live in a more sustainable manner.

This Green Week was held over a series of roadshows that visited Bolton and Cathal Brugha St. on the northside and Aungier and Kevin St. on the southside of the city. Events included the Human Powered Smoothie Maker, Create your own T-Shirt design, Reclaimed Arts and Crafts, Cycle Maintenance, and information stands such as Smarter Travel.‌
