Update for week of 07 June 2016

DIT hosts Ireland National Skills competitions

DIT will host the National Skills Competitions next week and colleagues and members of the public are invited to visit during the competitions to see the level and range of skills demonstrated by the competitors.  For the first time the launch event will take place on the Grangegorman Campus at 2pm on Monday 13th, with the 98fm Roadcaster on site to generate wider publicity for this terrific event.

During the week Apprentices will be competing in Aircraft Maintenance, Auto Body Repair, Bricklaying, Car Painting, Cookery, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Restaurant Service, Polymechanic Automation, Sheetmetal Work, Visual Merchandising and Welding.

Venues include Bolton Street campus, including Beresford Street and Linenhall; Cathal Brugha Street; Aviation Technology Centre at Dublin Airport; and the Grangegorman campus. 

Visitors are welcome at the following times:

-  Tuesday 14th June from 2 pm to 5.30 pm

-  Wednesday 15th June from 8.30 am to 1pm, and from 2pm to 5.30 pm

-  Thursday 16th June from 8.30 am to 11.30 am

As usual, competitors will be hoping to win in their category and to be in with a chance to be part of Team Ireland at the WorldSkills Competition which will take place next year in Abu Dhabi.
