How to register as an Academic Supervisor/Academic Mentor with the IRC (for first time IRC Supervisors/Mentors only)

Contact Sandra.fisher@dit.ie (tel. 01 402 3308) and this will be done by REIS.  Enterprise Mentors register directly with the IRC.

Advising REIS

Please email Sandra.fisher@dit.ie with the name of the prospective applicant.

Feedback on a near final draft of an application

Please ask the applicant to contact me by the end of the month  if they wish to receive feedback on a near final draft of an application and to ensure    that an appropriate reviewer may be identified in advance.  Generally reviewers provide feedback around a week after a draft has been provided to them.

The purpose of having a near final draft application reviewed is to enhance an already high quality application.

Postgraduate Study at DIT – structured PhD (4 years)

All DIT postgraduate students undertaking doctoral study in DIT are enrolled in the Institute’s  four year structured PhD programme and applicants must tick this box on the IRC’s application form.

Ethical Statement – question in respect of requirement for ethical approval

In respect of the question on the IRC’s application form asking whether the research proposal needs institutional ethical approval please tick ‘yes’ to this question regardless of the nature of the research project.  The Institute’s policy requires all research projects to be submitted for ethical approval.

Guidelines and evaluation criteria/Marking of proposal

Please draw applicants’ attention to  the  IRC’s applicant guideline which includes useful guidance as well as outlining the  evaluation criteria/marking scheme.

Intellectual Property (IP) Issues

Advice and support is available from DIT’s Hothouse Office:

DIT Hothouse Technology Transfer  Office

Deadlines/Referees

Please remind applicants that all submission deadlines, Irish time and date,  are set by the IRC and must be adhered to.   After submitting their application (by 10 June) applicants are advised to remind their referees of the referee deadline (17 June).

Institutional endorsement undertaken by REIS

Once the application, with supporting documentation (Supervisor Form, References, etc),  is received by the IRC deadline the application becomes eligible for institutional endorsement and  DIT will be asked to endorse  these applications  (which I undertake on behalf of the Institute).

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance to you and prospective applicants.

Kind regards

Sandra
