Update for week of 14 March 2016

Reflecting the Rising at DIT: Easter Monday 2016

Under the “Reflecting the Rising” banner, DIT is collaborating with RTE to present a wide and fascinating programme of lectures, performances and exhibitions in our Aungier Street campus which is built on the site of the original Jacob’s Biscuit Factory.   Lectures will be delivered by DIT colleagues - including Paul O’Sullivan, Kate Shanahan, Tom Clonan, Michael Foley, Máirtín Mac Ion Iomaire, and Thomas Murphy - and by a range of guest lecturers.  The events are all free but ticketed - for a full listing of the events taking place in DIT Aungier Street and to book, please go to http://1916.rte.ie/event/dublin-institute-of-technology/

One of the outstanding events on the day will be a performance of Marbhna 1916 – Requiem.  Composed by our colleague Odhrán O Casaide, it will be performed in the Courtyard at 12 noon, with an orchestra, choir and soloists drawn from DIT students, staff and graduates.

We have had a great response to our call for Ambassadors to assist with the welcome and smooth running of the event on Easter Monday - thank you to all who have put their names forward!   Because there are now so many events in Aungier Street on the day we are putting out another call for more volunteers.  If you are free on Easter Monday, whether for just a few hours or for longer, please click here  Commemoration 1916 Event: Volunteers Ambassadors needed! to participate in what will be a unique and exciting day:
