Update for week of 20 February 2017

All in the Food

'All in the Food - 75 Years of Cathal Brugha Street' has won the ‘Best Cookbook in Ireland’ accolade in the Cooking Schools Category of Gourmand International Awards.  Written by colleagues in the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology, and by some highly successful graduates of the School, the book was published by O’Brien Press and launched by Senator David Norris.  It celebrates the history of the School of Culinary Arts and highlights the influence it has had on generations of chefs and food providers in Ireland and abroad.

The title ‘All in the Food’ pays homage to the earlier ‘All in the Cooking’  which was published in the 1940’s by staff in Cathal Brugha Street St. Mary’s College of Catering and which was a standard in most households in Ireland for decades.  Its successor is now available in bookshops and in addition to the ‘Best Cookbook in Ireland’ award it has also been shortlisted for Best Cookbook in the World 2017 in the Cooking Schools category – the winner will be announced in May.
