Update for week of 23 January 2017

ISSE 2017 goes live on Feb 13 - Survey of Student Engagement

Once again this year, first and final year undergraduate students and all students on taught postgraduate programmes in all higher education institutions in Ireland will participate in the Survey of Student Engagement 2017.  For students in DIT, the survey will be open from the 13 February 2017 and will remain open for a three-week period. Studentswill receive an individual email invitation to participate.

Details about the 2017 survey are available at www.studentsurvey.ie  including the full 2016 Irish Survey of Student Engagement (ISSE) report.

Last year 2166 DIT students took part in the survey and results included:

  • DIT students score higher than the national average for collaborative learning. This reflects the emphasis on group work in DIT.
  • DIT students score highly for Quantitative Reasoning, reflecting our applied, real world nature of our programmes.
  • DIT students rate teaching practices highly but want more prompt feedback on assignments.

The Student Survey is an important tool for students to share their views and students have a major contribution to make in influencing the design of curricula, and in reviewing and providing feedback on their experience of college.

Dr. Rachel O’Connor, DIT Student Services, says “DIT is really encouraging our students to participate in the survey.  The data from this survey provides invaluable data on the DIT student experience and we will continue to use the data to feed into how things are done in the future”.
