Lecturing in NZEB design and cost optimality
Daniel Coyle is an industry-based architect and energy design consultant. He is a graduate of the DIT MSc in Energy Retrofit Technology and lectures part time on the online DT9773 MSc Building Performance (Energy Efficiency in Design) programmes.
Daniel is a Registered Architect, a member of the RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland) and has RIAI Conservation and Environmental Design Accreditation. He has extensive practice experience, working on a diverse range of residential and commercial building projects, including existing Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian period buildings, Protected Structures, 20thC buildings, vernacular farmhouses, as well as new build projects. (for selected projects see: www.danielcoylearchitects.ie) Before establishing his own practice in 2000, he worked with John Duane Architects (London), Pica Ciamarra Associati (Naples), and Cahill-O’Brien Associates (Dublin). In 2015, Daniel obtained a Masters (First Class Hons.) in Energy Retrofit Technology (Sustainable & Energy Efficient Design) at the Dublin Institute of Technology. He has a special interest in Passive House, nZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Buildings) and low-energy design solutions for both new build and retrofit. He has carried out research into Passive-House and nZEB energy efficient design strategies, including a detailed examination of implementing these ultra-low energy building standards, in a cost-effective way. He has taught at DIT School of Architecture and currently lectures on the MSc Building Performance (Energy Efficient Design) Masters Degree course.
