DT101/5 Thesis Project - Deepka Abbi

Deepka Abbi - Supported Transitional Housing, Drogheda, Final Year Thesis Project, 2017

The thesis seeks to explore perception and illusion of depth through layering. The vehicle for this study is supported housing, gardens and a restaurant, located at West Gate, in the medieval town of Drogheda. The thesis is examined and tested in a variety of scales; from the scale of the proposal in the town to the scale of a bedroom window. It considers closely the mind-set of the user groups within the scheme. The subjects' experience of the thesis idea is heightened through orchestrated moments within the scheme where there is counterpointing between, for example, collaged flatness, through-view and openings with reflective surfaces.
