DT169/2 Joinery 2 project

In the Joinery 2 module the students are introduced to the fundamentals of geometric and traditional joinery design. They add to skills developed in Joinery 1 & develop an understanding of geometric and traditional joinery and the complexities involved in their manufacture. Students explore methods of bringing traditional designs up to modern standards and safe methods of utilizing the tools and machinery at their disposal to complete a given task.

Indicative syllabus includes: storm proof casement windows, storm proof doors and frames, sliding sash windows, construction of traditional joinery styles, cut string stairs, curved steps, methods of forming curves in timber, setting out curved doors, frames and windows, geometric stairs and hand rails.
