Research Opportunities at TU Dublin College of Business
13 March 2019
Two exciting research opportunities are now open at the College of Business with the project "Brexit Implication for Irish Freight, Logistics and Transportation". The project will assess potential post-Brexit implications for the logistics and transportation sector and the impact on movements of goods between Ireland, the other EU Member States, or the United Kingdom.
The project has received funding from the European Union and the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport (DTTAS) and is implemented in co-operation with the European Commission's Structural Reforms Support Service (SRSS). Using scenario-mapping, the project aims to assist in the development of contingency plans to address the changing environment.
The project team is drawn from the 3S Group (Smart Sustainable Solution for Complex Systems), based in the College of Business, TU Dublin. This unit has considerable experience in applying simulation models and technologies in wide-ranging contexts. Dr Amr Mahfouz, the Project Manager and the leader of Supply Chain Management Team in 3S Group, will lead the scientific team.
About the Project
Brexit is expected to bring large-scale changes to the supply chain management in Ireland with a wide range of challenges. At the moment managing the supply chain between the UK and Ireland is relatively straightforward since supply chains are highly integrated and operate on a whole island basis. Now, supply chain professionals have to answer critical questions about the future of their business practices, core operating models, supplier selection, transportation and logistics strategies and supply chain design after Brexit.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on 25th May 2019, any queries please contact the Project manager Dr Amr Mahfouz by email firstname.lastname@example.org
