Module Description

This module deals with the presentation, analyses and interpretation of data to enable an informed and comprehensive evaluation of scientific data/evidence. It is comprised of two main components: Data analysis and data interpretation. The analytical approaches will all be undertaken using the statistical software SPSS. The module will give learners an understanding and familiarity with research data and help them to understand the influences on how data is presented, analysed and interpreted. It will also further develop an understanding of the role of epidemiology in research, clinical trials and disease monitoring, as well as an ability to critique and evaluate research findings.

Indicative Syllabus

Conduction of research, including discussion of project design with supervisor(s), literature review, preparation of research materials, familiarisation with techniques, data collection, data analysis, drafting of report, preparation and delivery of oral presentations.
