Learning Outcomes
LO5 Produce integrated mechanical, electro-mechanical, electro-pneumatic, electronic and PLC solutions independently.
On completion of this module the learner will be able to;
LO1 Critically appraise the suitability of, sensors, transducers, signal conditioning elements and actuation systems in a mechatronic process, based upon a clear apprehension of component behaviour.
LO2 Describe data presentation systems.
LO4 Compare field bus technologies.
LO6 Critically appraise design and manufacturing aspects of machine components and systems.
LO11 Communicate effectively within the Mechatronics community.
LO3 Differentiate between material handling concepts in accordance with VDI 2860.
LO7 Use software/hardware products for programming, monitoring, simulation, visualisation and diagnosis of PLC controlled processes, using field bus technology where appropriate.
LO10 Work effectively as a member of a team.
LO8 Apply the appropriate techniques for the safe operation, design, programming, commissioning, testing, dismantling/assembling, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of complex mechatronic systems.
LO9 Predict the behaviour of electrical and electro pneumatic systems usingsimulation software.
Please note that the catalogue is provided as a guide to modules in DIT. Not all modules listed will necessarily be offered every year and new modules may also be added. Information subject to change. For detail on specific programmes/modules please contact the relevant School directly.
