Module Description

This module introduces the student to the basic production tools of a lens-based medium, the 35mm SLR still camera. The module is project-driven consisting of three short pre-production problems solving exercises covering the lens and camera, exposure measurement and control, light, and compositional strategies. Focusing on narrative development the module aims to foster a disciplined and reflective approach to the use of the camera and lens in the production of a story.

Module Aims

Provide the student with an understanding of the basic photographic skills necessary to develop a disciplined and reflective approach to narrative construction using the still camera and lens.
