Module Description

This module will involve group projects with an emphasis on developing skills in production, research, organization and content development in a documentary context. It aims to provide learners with the following: (i) experience of professional commissioning; (ii) correct documentary production practices; (iii) the implementation of traditional and innovative approaches to documentary production; (iv) the exploration of the distinct roles in the creation, production and realization of media content in documentary.

Module Aims

This module will be based around an interactive and practical exploration of making documentary programmes. Learners will be encouraged to explore and practice the different forms that are studied as part of the module. They will be taught, through practical workshops and tutorial seminars, how to produce video documentaries and will be expected to follow a production brief from an initial idea through to completion. Learners will be required to identify specific roles within the areas of creation, production, and realization that they wish to specialize in for a project and successfully fulfill that role on a production.
