Overview
Building on the first radio broadcasting module, this one engages students in more advanced production and presentation techniques and professional practices. The emphasis will be on live presentation and magazine programme production. It is taught through a series of hands-on workshops and classes exploring the theory and practice of radio broadcasting. The module will incorporate a series of lectures on radio markets and audiences. There will also be guest lectures by professional broadcasters. Students will develop, produce, and present live magazine programmes that will feed into the live output of DIT FM. The station will be broadcast to the greater Dublin area via FM and worldwide on the web
Module AimsThe aim of this module is to develop the students skill set in the production of 'live' radio broadcasting. Students will also explore the construction of the radio audience and programme policies of the broadcasters. It will further the student's skill in presentation techniques and the elements of radio magazine production. Specifically, it will develop the student's professional ability in handling programme contributors and interviewees live in studio and over phone
