Module Description

RADIO NEWS: This module engages the student 'hands-on' with the craft of writing radio news, in addition to compiling and editing of short radio feature packages. Students will source, write and present short radio news bulletins 'live' over-the-air of DIT FM DIT FM is run in collaboration with the Third Year Media Arts students. This module introduces the professional tools of the reporter/producer; portable flash recorders using professional microphones and the digital audio workstation DAW. PRESENTING TELEVISION NEWS: Module Description: This module provides an introduction to the principles and practice of presenting the news for today's television formats. Students apply the skills of writing for broadcast media in a practical studio environment and gain extensive experience of working as part of a television studio production team.

Module Aims

RADIO NEWS: The aim of this module is to teach students the skill of writing news bulletins suitable for the medium of radio using concise language with clarity and precision. It also aims to provide the skill-set necessary to develop and make short radio packages suitable for the inclusion into a radio news or magazine show. PRESENTING TELEVISION NEWS: The aim of this module is to enhance students' presentation skills and to give them practicalexperience of presenting television news programme in a modern television studio environment.
