Module Description

Built Environment - Synthesis and Analysis. The module aims to impart a knowledge and understanding of the role of Environmental Health Professionals in the Built Environment and major urban and infrastructural projects.

Indicative Syllabus

Project Stages / EIA, EIS in context. Planning Control Systems, Planning and Development Regulations. Condition writing. Dangerous Building Materials. Urban Infrastructural/ commercial project completed or under construction. Report writing. Cost control and building economics. Measurement of cost and control of large environmental projects. Bills of quantities, methods of measurement, tendering and contract award. Building contract law.
