Module Description

The conference and event sector is experiencing major growth in Ireland with projected conference visitors alone to reach 133,000 and spending 113 million euro by the end of 2002. This module is intended to equip students with the specific knowledge and expertise associated with marketing activities within the sector.

Module Aims

This module aims to develop an understanding of the nature and dynamics of the marketing environment facing marketers of conferences and events.

Introduction to the conference and event industry Examination of statistics associated with the conference and event industry Analysis of market segments within the conference and event industry Guest speaker on conferences Effective marketing strategies for a conference facility Effective marketing strategies for events Site visit to a conference centre Negotiation strategies for convention facilities marketers Effective utilisation and implementation of promotional material, packaging, and printing Guest speaker on marketing events Trends and developments in conference and events Reflection on guest speaker and site visits.
