Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the Event Risk Management module learners will be able to:
Participate willingly in the process of problem-based learning.
Communicate with all stakeholders on the adoption of appropriate risk management strategies for an event.
Identify key agencies that support the risk management function.
Identify aspects of events that pose threats to participants, volunteers, core staff, contracted staff, spectators and others.
Evaluate the issues that contribute to the risk profile of the event organisation i.e. those risks posed by the various functional areas.
Source and evaluate reference material both hard copy and electronic resources. Decide on one or a number of risk control measures applicable to the risk appraisal, made by the event manager.
Measure the practicality of chosen risk control measures using; available resources, costs of risk control and legislative standards as guidelines.
Prepare a group in-text referenced report on an aspect of risk management in the event industry.
