Learning And Teaching Methods
The course will be delivered in tutorials, i.e.in groups of not more than 20 students. Extensive use will be made of the language laboratory to give students the opportunity to hear and practice French sounds. A key feature of this first French module is that it is designed to respond to the needs of students who enter 3rd level language-learning with varying levels of proficiency, but who will typically lack experience in the oral skills. Grammar will be re-visited in interactive workshops . The written and spoken aspects of the language will be treated alongside each other and students will be helped to relate one to the other, a particularly problematic feature of French for learners.
