Overview
This module exposes students to the environmental health issues that arise in relation to a range of foodstuffs and health products (not addressed in other modules), many of which are imported into Ireland. This module will stress the factors relating to the assessment and control of risk to human health from milk and icecream.
Indicative SyllabusFood safety and recognition issues in relation to a range of foodstuffs (not covered in other modules) with emphasis on imported and ethnic foods.
Environmental health controls and procedures in relation to import and export of foodstuffs. Cosmetics (and other relevant products) safety and relevant official controls.
Environmental Health aspects of the Dairy Industry Primary production of milk on the farm Heat treatment of milk Ice cream Current Milk and Dairies Legislation and Codes of Practice.
