Overview
This module allows students to gain practical skills and experience in the hospitality, industry at an operations level. Students maintain a reflective journal as an important element of their learning. Students will also be supported by a mentor. The module serves a foundation module for a professional internship module which occurs in third year and strengthens the overall industry participation of students and the applied nature of the programme.
Module AimsThe aim of the module is to introduce students to a broad range of experiences in the hospitality industry. These experiences are combined with theoretical class room learning to provide a more holistic and reflective approach to student learning. The module aims to establish a greater connection with students and the hospitality industry.
Indicative SyllabusPractical Induction to module and responsibilities and expectations of students in a professional environments. Introduction to Hospitality Operations; Introduction to Online Reflective Diary and Bulletin Board through Webcourses. Development of Experience plan including CV Periodic Review with Tutor; Revision of Experience Plan Introduction to Career Planning Final Review with Tutor
