Overview
This module will develop student skills in accessing and using the information correctly to plan and pursue a research project in their subject area. This module will enable students to evaluate and analyse their project results as well as present their research work in visual and written report formats. Students will also be introduced to research ethics.
Module AimsTo allow students the opportunity to apply literature search skills, scientific principles, a methodical approach and analytical/technical skills to the investigation of a particular area or problem relevant to the programme being studied. To help develop in students the ability to write a comprehensive treatise on the chosen subject in the style of a formal scientific communication.
Indicative SyllabusFormulation of search strategy
Use of scientific library databases
Use google and internet effectively for research purpose
Distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate sources of information
Referencing, citation and plagiarism.
How to prepare a poster/scientific literature
Statistical analyses for interpretation of research outcome
Project planning and management.
