Overview
This course will introduce the students to the characteristics of the ethnic and roots tourism segment and to the fundamentals of Irish genealogy.
Module AimsEthnic links, and interest in ethnic peoples, is recognised is a powerful tourism demand generator. This module will equip students with conceptual and practical understanding of the phenomenon. In addition, interest in family history is strong in countries with a large population of Irish descent - Great Britain, the USA, Canada and Australia. Students will compete a detailed, and personalised, genealogical project and gain an appreciation of how the ethic dimension to tourism can be marketed.
