What is Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Structural Engineering?

Students enter the common second year of the Civil and Structural Engineering Degree following the completion of a common first year programme in Engineering (DT066A).    Students commencing the third year of the Degree Programme may be offered a choice of the Civil or Structural Engineering Degree. Places are limited and successful students will be offered places depending on their performance in Year 2. Each year of the programme is delivered over two semesters with examinations at the end of each semester.    Subjects studied include mathematics, surveying, construction technology, design of structures, soil mechanics, computing, highway engineering and laboratory work.    A major project is undertaken in the final year.
