What is Bachelor of Science (Ord) Ophthalmic Dispensing?

Graduates of this 3 year level 7 degree programme, which is unique in Ireland, are educated and trained to be Dispensing Opticians. Dispensing opticians advise on the most appropriate spectacle frames and lenses to fulfil an optical prescription.  The third year of this practical programme is spent in supervised placement in optical practices. In order to practise as a dispensing optician in the Republic of Ireland, graduates must first be registered with CORU.


Students may be required to attend classes at locations across the Institute.
