What is Bachelor of Science (Hons) Physics Technology?

This 4 year programme is designed to educate and train professional scientists in physics as it applies to technology. The programme is a full-time honours degree programme and aims to provide graduates with scientific and analytical skills in physics as well as a practical problem solving ability. Much of the physics in years 1 is delivered using problem based learning (PBL) which allows students to develop additional skills and qualities sought by industry including the ability to work in teams, interpersonal skills and adaptability. Programming and Computational Physics form an integral part of the programme which is characterised by extensive practical and project components.    Year 3 of the programme includes a seven month long industrial work placement. The Physics Technology degree is fully accredited by the Institute of Physics as an eligible qualification for progression to the title Chartered Physicist (designatory letters CPhys) and Institute Membership (MInstP).
