What is Bachelor of Arts (Hons) International Business and Languages (English)?

This is a conjoint programme between the Faculties of Applied Arts and Business, with 50% of the contact hours devoted to languages and 50% devoted to business subjects. This is a full-time four-years Honours Degree programme for nonnative speakers of English or Irish. Students should have a good level of linguistic competence in English to enable them to study the business subjects, which are taught entirely through English. Classes in English language foster the study of the language (i.e. contextual analysis and interpretation) as well as furthering language acquisition. Students also achieve a good working competence in a second foreign language, which is taken from beginner's level. Second languages on offer include beginner level Italian, Russian, Spanish, French and German. Students may not study their native language as their second language. Students on the English language programme spend the third year studying additional business and language modules in DIT and prepare a ‘country notebook' at the end of that year.

Students may be required to attend classes at locations across the Institute.

Please note that the catalogue is provided as a guide to modules in DIT. Not all modules listed will necessarily be offered every year and new modules may also be added. Information subject to change. For detail on specific programmes/modules please contact the relevant School directly.
