What is Doctor of Philosophy Cultural Studies & Social Documentary Practice?

The primary aim of the proposed structured doctoral programme in Cultural Studies and Social Documentary Practice is to provide a sustainable research and training environment for PhD students studying in the Centre for Transcultural Research and Media Practice, School of Media. The programme will train students to work in disciplines such as visual anthropology and sociology, and the interdisciplinary fields of film, media studies and visual and cultural studies. It further aims to train students should they choose to apply their scholarly training in applied settings, for example, the creative and cultural industries, in museums, cultural outreach education and policy or in advocacy and NGO organizations.

Students may be required to attend classes at locations across the Institute.
