MNT-ERAnet Annual Review

15 delegates from Finland, including leading researchers from University of Helsinki, VTT (Technical Research Institute) and Finnish SME's involved in the FP6 Nanovigil project attended the annual review in DIT on Jan 15th. All researchers involved in the E1.2M project, which is developing novel photocatalytic materials for anti-bacterial surfaces with specific application to hospital environments gave their progress on the year's work.

The project manager, CREST Centre Director, Dr John Colreavy opened the meeting, and Irish project manager Dr Suresh Pillai, CREST, gave the progress report on the Irish component of the project. DIT postgraduates Vinod Kumar and Damian Synnott, who are supervised by Dr Pillai and , School of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, gave the detailed results of their significant progress to date.

Social events included a trip to Johnny Fox's pub and a visit to the Guinness Storehouse. The project continues for another two years.
