Joe Hanly

Background

Born  Dublin 1952, Joe Hanly is a painter and printmaker working in Dublin. He graduated in Painting at the N.C.A.D 1977 and received an MA Fine Art at NCAD 2001.  He cofounded “No 9” The Screenprint Workshop in 1977 with Danny Courtney and Brian Maguire and was founder member of Temple Bar Gallery and Studios in 1983 serving on its board of directors on three occasions since then, most recently 2009-13. He created and ran the Print Studio in TBG+S in collaboration with Robert Armstrong from 1983 to 1993.

He is a lecturer in Fine Art D.I.T. School of Art and Design and Printing from 1984 to present and has also lectured in Fine Art Print, Dunlaoghaire School of Art and Design 1981-84.

Joe has exhibited extensively around Ireland and internationally since the 1980s including exhibitions in, amongst others, such galleries as Limerick City Gallery, Hugh Lane, RHA, Project Arts Center and Temple Bar Gallery.

Joe retired from the School in 2014
