Having trained as a ‘Tischler’ (cabinet maker & joiner) in Germany, I came to Ireland in 1989 where I studied Interior and Furniture Design at DIT, graduating in 1994.
I have been working in a range of positions in the design industry in Ireland Norway, Germany and Italy, including running my own business for a number of years.
Since 2005 I am lecturing on the Interior and Furniture Design Programme in DIT, where I teach students how to develop and realize their design concepts.
Why I became a designer? I see every object that surrounds us as a sculpture – only some have a practical use and others don’t. Often those with a practical use though are neither beautiful nor do they function very well. There are few things more gratifying than to create something that is both.
