IT Hothouse showcases DIT?s product design and development capabilities at the IRDG Annual Conference

DIT Hothouse and DIT's School of Mechanical & Design Engineering at DIT Kevin St. were selected by the Industry Research and Development Group (IRDG) to showcase DIT’s product design and development capabilities at their annual member conference.

The event took place in Leopardstown Racecourse Pavilion on Tuesday, 14th October and was attended by over 200 broad industry leaders in functions such as General Management, Technical, Marketing and Human Resources.

‘Design Thinking’ was the subject of the day and some excellent speakers were on hand to present on this creative approach to Innovation and discuss how it is being used by leading public and private organisations worldwide.

DIT Hothouse, supported by DIT's Product Design programme, promoted Industrial R&D collaboration opportunities to industry.

A number of new DIT product design technologies available for commercial license through DIT Hothouse were also on display, including:

Strata Vision
A range of personal equipment scanning solutions for environments from cleanrooms to building sites.

A novel modelling toy that creates custom made fully pose-able characters.

VHF Casemate
A novel waterproof and shockproof VHF enabling smartphone casing.

Smart Wall Paint
Smart Wall Paint, a DIT Hothouse programme graduate was also present to promote and demonstrate its novel smart paint which turns any flat surface into a reusable whiteboard. The company's core technology was developed within DIT’s Centre for Research in Environmental Surface Technology (CREST).
