Over 150 start-up stakeholders were welcomed by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, Richard Bruton T.D., as he opened the DIT / IADT New Frontiers Annual Showcase 2015 at William Fry. The Showcase featured 30 top entrepreneurs of Enterprise Ireland’s 2015 ‘New Frontiers’ programme. These included KillBiller, DropChef, MummyCooks and HouseMyDog.
Minister Bruton congratulated the Programme participants on their success and spoke of the Government’s strong record in jobs, business and start-up support. He further noted the participants’ enthusiasm and the need to encourage more to start their own successful start-up.
Other speakers were Alvin Price, Chairman of William Fry, who spoke of the firm’s extensive expertise in assisting start-ups and established technology firms. Then followed a speech by DIT President, Prof. Brian Norton, and IADT President, Dr. Annie Doona. Each spoke of the importance of an entrepreneurial mind-set and a world class start-up eco-system to nurture aspirational talent.
The keynote speaker, Cyril McGuire, CEO of Infinity, then shared his thoughts on what makes a start-up successful. In this, he drew on his experience as Co-founder and CEO of Trintech. He further engaged in a lively Q&A with Adrian Walsh, CEO of CheckVentory and a Programme Alumnus. Many questions from the audience also featured.
