Inventor Thomas Woolmington backed by DIT Hothouse wins the Best Innovation Award for Research Emerging from Third Level Education

Thomas Woolmington and DIT Hothouse has been awarded the Best Innovation Award for Research Emerging from Third Level Education beating off stiff competition from other Enterprise Ireland and the Irish Farmers Journal Innovation Arena competitors.

DIT Hothouse’s Senior Innovation Portfolio Manager, Paul Maguire said, “We are delighted to receive this award which acknowledges the high quality technology from the Dublin Institute of Technology and Thomas Woolmington. These awards truly recognise and credit the contribution that DIT’s agriculture technology is making to farming in Ireland.”

DIT’s Inventor Thomas Woolmington said: “It was a real honour to be involved in the awards let alone receive the Best Innovation Award for Research Emerging from Third Level Education. I enjoyed the whole process from start to finish. I would like to thank DIT Hothouse and Kieran O’Connell for their assistance.”

DIT Hothouse’s Licencing Executive, Kieran O’Connell said, “This new farming technology - ‘The Slurry Solver’ - offers a new, low-cost approach for cattle farmers to improve health and safety around tanks, to capture and use renewable energy and to improve the quality and lessen the environmental impact of slurry on their farms. It highlights that agriculture technology is not just limited to traditional rural universities and colleges but is at the forefront of the Dublin Institute of Technology as well.”

DIT are actively seeking an established industry player to assistant to bring The Slurry Solver to market. Please contact Kieran O'Connell on 0035314027179 for further details. See here for a more detailed description of The Slurry Solver Technology.

About The Inventor, Thomas Woolmington, DIT

Thomas grew up in a rural setting in County Wicklow, Ireland and worked on a significant number of Dairy, Beef and Sheep Farms as a teenager. After finishing his Leaving Certificate, he chose to enter an electrical apprenticeship due to the embedded and applied nature rather than entering into a formal degree course.
