The Haddington Road Agreement

The Institute is currently making preparations to apply the terms of the Public Service Stability Agreement 2013-2016 (The Haddington Road Agreement) and the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2013 ("The Act"), as appropriate, with effect from 1st July 2013.

Circular Letter 30 of 2013 from the Department of Education and Skills states that the terms of "the Act" provide that the measures contained within the legislation apply without modification to those staff who are in a grade not covered by a registered Collective Agreement 2013-2016 (the Haddington Road Agreement).

DIT will therefore be applying the Haddington Road Agreement provisions only to staff in grades represented by unions that have signed up to it, regardless of whether they are members of those unions.

We are preparing a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page to try to anticipate queries that colleagues may have in relation to the Haddington Road Agreement and the Finanical Measures in the Public Interest Act 2013. In the meantime, if you have any queries, please address them to haddington@dit.ie. You also may wish to refer to the FAQ document on the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform website.
