María-José González, Licenciada Filología, M.Phil Applied Linguistics Trinity College Dublin, is the coordinator of newly established Academic Writing Centre in DIT. She also lectures in Spanish in degree programmes offered by the School of Languages, Law and Society and is the Erasmus coordinator for the BA Hons International Business and Spanish. She held management posts as Assistant Head and Head (Acting) of the former School of Languages at the Dublin Institute of Technology from 2005 to 2013.
During her years as Erasmus coordinator she successfully expanded the network of partner universities in Spain for both BA Hons International Business and Languages and BA Hons Languages and International Tourism.
Her research interest lies in the area of foreign language pedagogy, in particular in the use of new technologies in language learning and teaching. She was awarded the prestigious European Label Award in 2003 for her project: A Virtual Space for the Spanish Class. This project was developed to support students in the Postgraduate Diploma in Spanish for Post-primary Teachers.
