Bike to College Day

The DIT Smarter Travel Working Group is coordinating a Bike to College Day on Tuesday, May 4th with a range of activities and events during the day to encourage staff and students to get on their bikes. DIT already has a very high proportion of cyclists, and the activities are designed to encourage the 12% of the college population who cycle occasionally to become regular cyclists. The activities are described below:
Tuesday, May 4th
DIT Bike to College Day
- The first 300 cyclists into college will get a free Insomnia tea/coffee.
- Free Cycle maintenance and safety class in DIT Bolton St at 1.00pm with Free Pizza
- Free Cycle maintenance and safety class in DIT Kevin St at 2.15pm with Free Pizza
- Cycle challenge
- Lots of Info about DIT facilities for cyclists – showers / lockers / bike racks / bike pumps and repair kits – in all sites

So if you’ve just got your new bike under the Cycle to Work Scheme or if you’re a Tour de France winner, we hope to see you cycling in on Tuesday for the first working day of the Summer!
This initiative has been supported by a grant from the National Sustainable Transport Office, with the aim of promoting National Bike Week in June. See www.bikeweek.ie for more details.
