SDAR Journal 2012 launched in DIT
Journal dedicated to applied research in the engineering/built environment sector in Ireland
4 December 2012: Further to the enormous success of the inaugural SDAR Journal first published last year, the 2012 edition has now been launched. The SDAR* Journal is an exciting publication dedicated to sustainable design and applied research and is published by CIBSE Ireland and the School of Electrical Engineering Systems, DIT and supported by Electric Ireland.
The SDAR Journal is the result of a continuing and productive collaboration between CIBSE Ireland and DIT, and it provides an important repository of documented evidence in engineering design and research. It is a useful source of information and discussion for researchers, designers and all involved in the built environment.
The Journal is made up of a strong spine of industry-based research. It comprises companies and individuals within companies, disseminating insightful findings based on evidence gathered from live projects that drive us towards a more sustainable world. According to the Chairman of CIBSE, Derek Mowlds, CIBSE encourages an evidence-based approach to learning from the built environment, and the SDAR Journal provides this very platform, where people learn from project successes, challenges and shared experiences, supported by robust data and analysis.
The SDAR Journal for 2012 was launched by the President of DIT on Tuesday, 27 November in DIT Aungier Street. In his remarks, Professor Norton said that there are three aspects to building services engineering – the design, the installation and also how the building performs. Congratulating the editors and contributors he said “The quality of presentation in this Journal brings these three elements together, in an extremely accessible manner. Also, having an online version allows it to be more widely disseminated. “
In this issue papers range from one on The 2012 SLL Code for Lighting: the Impact on Design and Commissioning to another entitled Improving Automation Routines for Automatic Heating Load Detection in Buildings
