ETHICS AND SOCIETY: Public Debate Series at DIT

Earlier this year the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins launched an initiative to begin a national discussion on Ethics and Society. President Higgins invited DIT and universities around the country to participate by organising events and debates which were open to the public. In response to the invitation, DIT hosted a series of three public debates on topics relevant to some disciplines where the Institute has particular strengths. The debates, chaired by broadcaster Karen Coleman, involved a panel of speakers with expertise in each area and contributions were invited from the floor.
Each of the three discussions was filmed and can now be seen in full at the following links:
- Thursday 10 April: The Built Environment
- Thursday 24 April: Ethics, Journalism and the Internet
- Thursday 22 May: Ethics and Food Quality and Safety
DIT would like to thank the members of the panels and of the audience who attended and contributed their views on these topics which are of critical importance to Irish society.
