Early CAO fee is €30 till 20 January 2018

Posted: 8 January, 2019

CAO applications for September 2019 college places opened on 5 November, and already thousands of eager beavers have availed of the discounted application cost of €30. The standard fee of €45 will apply for applications up to 1st February at 5:15 pm.

It’s CAO application time

It’s a stressful time of year for Leaving Certificate students with mock exams looming, and lots more coursework to complete, but we recommend that students get their application in early to avoid the stress. Not to mention saving yourself a few quid! Some students may have already decided what they’re going to study, but don’t worry you still have plenty of time to make your up your mind. Applying by 1 February will ensure you’re registered on the CAO system and over the next six months, you can consider all the various options available more closely.

TU Dublin and your CAO choices

As you may know, Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Tallaght and Institute of Technology Blanchardstown joined together on 1 January to become Ireland’s first Technological University – TU Dublin. TU Dublin is an exciting new milestone in Irish Higher Education with campuses in Dublin City, Tallaght and Blanchardstown. But how will this affect your CAO application? Well, you won’t see much of a difference when you apply. If, for example, your first choice is Bachelor of Arts in Creative Digital Media in our Blanchardstown Campus, the CAO code will still be BN021, but remember when you start in September you will be registered as a TU Dublin student.

Courses with a February 1st deadline

If your programme of choice requires you to submit a portfolio, attend an audition or interview, it’s important to remember that you must select that programme by Friday, 1 February. For example, any students looking at programmes in TU Dublin in Music, Drama, Fine Art, Visual Communications, Interior Design, Architecture, Advertising and Marketing Communications or Photography need to be aware that 01 February is the cut-off date for applications.
