Welcome to Languages and Language Studies in DIT!

Fáilte chuig Teangacha agus Léann na dTeangacha in ITBÁC!

Thank you for visiting the Languages section of the School of Languages, Law and Society website.

In our School, you can study the following languages to honours degree level on programmes which we share with Business (BA (Hons) International Business and Languages, IBL) or Tourism (BA (Hons) Languages and International Tourism, LIT):

  • Chinese

  • English for Non-native Speakers

  • French

  • German

  • Italian

  • Spanish

If you’d like to concentrate on languages only, you should consider our recently developed BA (Hons) English Studies and Languages which offers students the opportunity to pursue English Studies to degree level, alongside another language.

At postgraduate level, we offer:
MA sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach / MA in Applied Irish.

Our courses are characterised by small student groups and a focus on practical language skills. You’ll find links and more information about all of these courses here.

Other ways to study languages as part of your DIT programme:

Currently we have approximately 450 students on our own degree programmes while approximately 500 additional students take modules in languages across a range of other DIT colleges and schools. You’ll find links and more information about opportunities to study Irish, French, German, Italian and Spanish as part of other DIT degree programmes here: Journalism & Media; Business; Tourism
