Richard O’Carroll has been a lecturer in the School of Real Estate and Construction Economics in Dublin Institute of Technology since 1996. Richard has worked with Blue Chip Contractors since 1988 and has experience in the Construction Industry in both the United Kingdom and Ireland as a Senior Project Surveyor, for Major Infrastructural Contractors. He has a diverse range of professional experience in a wide range of sectors including administration of Civils and Building Contracts, (indigenous, international and PPPs), estimating, planning and programming, value engineering, expert witness, and loss assessment. Richard delivers modules in Contract Administration and Management and Tender Documentation on undergraduate courses in DIT and also teaches Civil Engineering International Contract Administration on post graduate courses. Richard is a Corporate Member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors as well as being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Richard has been the Educational Officer of the European Council of Construction Economists since 2004 and chairs a number of pan European Projects such as Graduate research competitions as well as the Standardisation of a European wide recognized Diploma in Construction Economics.
