Blackboard is the virtual learning environment that is currently in use in DIT and it is also used in many other higher education institutions across Ireland, including TCD, UCD, Maynooth University and NUI Galway. It provides staff and students with a virtual space for each of their modules within which content can be shared, discussions can be facilitated, assignments can be set and submitted, assessments can be taken, webinars can be run, and online group work can be managed.
In the 2016-17 academic year Blackboard was used by over 18,000 DIT students and staff, across in excess of 2,800 individual modules.
Currently DIT uses Blackboard Learn, but in 2015 Blackboard launched Blackboard Ultra which is a strategic overhaul of all Blackboard Learn functionality. Blackboard will focus on the Ultra experience when presenting at DIT on 29th November 2017.
Blackboard have prepared a short video specifically for DIT to introduce Blackboard Learn Ultra to us. Please note that the video below can only be accessed when you are logged in to your DIT Google account.
If you'd like to come along to see Blackboard present on Wednesday Nov 29th in room 3044 (Aungier St), from 12.30pm - 1.30pm, please sign up here. A light lunch will be provided.
